Default FIXED: 8800 resets when bumped/ dropped on table

Please Login to Remove!

This problem kept frustrating me: whenever my 8800 was bumped or jolted in my pocket, the phone would reset and I would have to sit through the startup process. This problem caused me to always "baby" my phone whenever I carried it around. Plus it is just plain embarrassing to have a friend move my phone on a table and have it reset.

Someone in these forums had the same problem about a year ago, but that thread has been closed.

Turns out the problem is that when bumped, there is just enough room for the battery to shift upwards and lose its contact. I solved the problem by inserting a thin piece of plastic right above the battery. Now I can toss my phone on a couch or walk around with it in my pocket without worrying about it resetting.

BTW: This is the ONLY problem I have had with this phone. To this day it still does everything I need. I use the GPS and email everyday (received my graduate school acceptance emails while I was at work!!!), I surf the internet with Opera Mini 4.0, and I occasionally watch a TV show with the media player. This phone will last me at least another year or two... and then I'll upgrade to something with 3G, more memory, and a larger screen.

various carriers have streaming TV over the air. you can also record those TV shows and convert them for your device. slingmedia is launching slingbox for the BlackBerry at some point. and you can check on videos4blackberry.info for the shows as well

I use a program to convert DVDs or AVI files on my comp to work on my blackberry. I have a 2GB microSD card in my phone, and I use a card reader or the blackberry USB cable to put the videos on the card.

Right now I use the program "blackberry video" which is just a custom program someone wrote that converts videos to work on the blackberry pearl and 8800. Anyways, it seems to convert perfectly for my phone, but there are other options out there.

I suggest doing some searches for "blackberry video conversion" or something in that nature to find out what program to use and what specifications are optimal for video conversion.
