Unhappy Newbee to BB from Win Mobile and ???'s

Please Login to Remove!

I am giving a BB 8830 a shakedown (Verizon customer) and want to make a decision in 7 to 14 days about it. My workplace uses the MS Exchange server and we are all on MS Outlook.
I like the feel of the device so far. Also I like it's response time and lack of crashing that I had on past Win Mobile PDAs and phones.

However, I am reallybugged by not being able to find a way to load my old email onto the device. I guess I could forward it all to Gmail and use that if I need to access old stuff, but that seems to be unintuitive
Also, the email "client" if you can call it that is incredibly sparse and poor. I can't read HTML email...It won't even download whole messages. Holy crap, I am almost better off using Outlook Mobile Access in the BB browser and reading my email that way.
The calendar also doesn't impress me much, but I can live with it.

Are my complaints unjustified or am I missing an easy way to move over old email to my device?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I have Outlook synced on my BB with no problems. Plus I have Gmail and anyother work email set up with no issues. I'm not sure what you mean by not being able to read whole messages. I can with mine.

As for the calendar, don't forget that BBs are more for email than a PDA. The calendar feature isn't that bad once you get used to it, and you still get important features like a selection of views, alerts and reminders. Things you'd get on outlook.

Hope you go eith the BB you'll love it.

You will be able to get most of the html email with the new OS, or with an add-on piece of software -- either BBSmart or Empower.

Old emails will be an issue if you need access to them. The forwarding to yourself is one option that would work, but is as you say somewhat counter-intuitive.

As others around here have mentioned on occasion, the BB is an email device first, then a phone, and finally a PIM. Not surprisingly, calender, tasks, and the like take a back seat. But it sure is stable.
