Smile Questions about unlocking

Please Login to Remove!

Howdy,
Please help me understand..
1) are all unlock codes specific to EACH unlock instance? or can the same code be used on any service?
2) can i buy JUST the phone from ebay 8320 or what ever curv ATT has with NO service, unlock it and run it on T-mobile with no issues?
3) is unlocking perminent to the phone/sim?
4)what are the cons to unlocking? are there?

I want to buy the ATT phone for the GPS/Camara.. I have no need for WIFI on T-mobile.. PS, my company pays the bill for T-mobile so there is no reason for me to move to ATT.. They have higher prices and I use around 2000 minutes per month..

Thanks much..

the unlock code is per device (IMEI)
yes you can
yes it is permanent
there are no real cons other than your carrier will not "support" the phone. means no tech support usually.

to unlock a device check the third link in my signature. and welcome to the forums.
