Default Desktop Manager version clarification

Please Login to Remove!

I'm currently running OS 4.2.2.148 (Platform 3.0.0.67) on my Verizon 8830WE. The Desktop Manager is running version 4.2.2.12.

I'm planning to update my OS to Verizon's 4.2.2.176 (I think). I've read that the latest Desktop Manager is recommended when updating the OS, but I don't want to go to version 4.3. I could go to version 4.2 SP2, which I downloaded from the RIM Web site because Verizon only has 4.3 available.

However, now I'm wondering if I already have 4.2 SP2. Given the version number on my current Desktop Manager (4.2.2.12), I assume that I'm already running version 4.2. Being the 4.2 is followed by another .2, does that mean that it's SP2? I also have Roxio as the Media Manager, which I think was available starting with SP2.

Any help would be appreciated. I wish the version numbers were easier to decipher and Verizon had a better way of labeling its version numbers on its download page.

TIA.

looks like you've got what you need!

but just in case:
BlackBerry - BlackBerry - Sys Req V4-2 Pack 2

might as well be 100% sure. if needed, just uninstall the current DM and install this one.

Thank you!

So now that I know I already have DM 4.2 SP2, all I have to do---and I'm not sure that I'm going to do it---is upgrade the OS to .176.

Everything is working well with OS .148 and I keep telling myself, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." But then again, I like keeping relatively up to date with the OS...

Thanks again.

I agree. If it ain't broke, don't even think about fixing it.

That's kind of what I'm thinking now---it's nice to have that feeling confirmed.

I just replaced the VZW silver housing and keyboard with the black housing and keyboard, managed to put an InvisibleShield on it without getting the dreaded lint underneath it, and found a wallpaper that I really like. In other words, my BB is working great, looking great (IMO), and is just about perfect for me.

I think I'll sit out the .176 update.
