I haven't, but -

BBForums : HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, Canada’s Cellular Repair Center

Is cheaper and is also highly trusted by this forum.

Pizza 05-23-2008 10:11 PM

Awesome thank you, they do have unlock code for the service the phone is under.

JSanders 05-23-2008 10:15 PM

Wirelessly posted (8310; The Juggernaut)

Horizon is reputable. (y).

Pizza 05-23-2008 10:21 PM

Only ones who specified "cable and wireless" others are just like.. "LOL YEAH WE CAN DO IT"

Pizza 05-23-2008 10:25 PM

I heard that if you contact carries and ask for unlock code they give it to you is this correct?

NJBlackBerry 05-23-2008 10:28 PM

Simple answer - sometimes. So will, some won't. Only the original carrier for the BB can give you the unlock code.

Pizza 05-23-2008 10:31 PM

Thanks bud I'd rather not pay lol

NJBlackBerry 05-23-2008 10:54 PM

lol - then you should not have bought a locked BlackBerry, bud.
lol.

Pizza 05-23-2008 11:12 PM

I'm saying thanks for giving me that info and the chance that I may not have to pay lol

gsmphonesource.com has been reliable for me--always quick service.

KeNNethX 05-27-2008 11:26 AM

In the past I had a user who had an ATT BlackBerry. We got it unlocked for free by calling tech support and telling them he was going out of the Country...they emailed him the unlock code for free.

jepok22 05-27-2008 05:15 PM

if the BB was unlocked would the PIN be changed a well?

JSanders 05-27-2008 05:49 PM

No. Unlocking the BB for use on a carrier other than for which it is branded does not change the PIN. The PIN remains the same and stays with the device.

jepok22 05-27-2008 07:02 PM

i bought me a 8830 but the PIN is still used by another person, how do i work around that? if i would apply for BIS, would my local carrier take care of that for me or is that my sole problem for buying a BB from a 3rd party vendor?

rachamphetamine 05-27-2008 08:32 PM

You need to call the carrier that the phone is branded to and have them release the PIN.

Pizza 05-28-2008 05:26 AM

I tried emailing Cable and wireless as well as calling them..

Email: I'm moving out of the country and requesting unlock code

Response: You have to talk to your carrier we can't do anything..

My Response: You are the carrier for this phone.

( no response )

When I tried to call it was busy all the time.. Can anyone help? I did order a code from horizon but I would like to get one from cable and wireless asap just so I dont have to wait..

And what does the pin do ? Is this going to be a problem not knowing it?

jepok22 05-28-2008 06:12 AM

it seems that the carrier dont want to release the PIN. so does that mean i cant get BIS on my bb?

JSanders 05-28-2008 06:29 AM

@ Pizza-- is your device branded to Cable & Wireless? Then yes, only they can provide the "free" carrier unlock.

@ jepock22-- If the carrier won't release the PIN for your use, then you will not have use of the BB for BIS at all, on any carrier. Your issue is not related to unlocking the device, I am not sure why you are posting your questions here, but so be it for now.

Pizza 05-28-2008 04:17 PM

Yes it is branded to cable and wireless but I just got an email saying -

Ryan,

Sorry, but we can not honor that request.

wtf do I do ;/
