I use my memo and contacts an awful lot I'm sure other users do also.
I have a 1GB card but only media I see can be backed up to it.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
How can I backup contacts and memo entries?

You can't store those on your media card.

Use Desktop Manager to backup your data.
