Default blackberry 8800 quality / lifetime

Please Login to Remove!

i just wanted to check with you guys if there are also problems with the quality of the 8800, we had about 10 blackberry 8800 models in our company and already 7 of them needed replacement within the first year
most frequent problems: signal drops out without any notification, and the power jack in the blackberry breaks so it can't be charged anymore.
i think its the poorest quality since the 7290....

Wirelessly posted (my new touch button BB)

I have had no problem with my 8800

Typically I have found that the USB port breaks because the cord is not pulled out properly users tend to kind of yank it out

Wirelessly posted (Instead of Working)

I think a lot of the people in my company are realy rough on the devices, since they didn't have to purchase them themselves.

My 8800 was bullet proof until I wanted the Curve...Now I might send it off to Colorware and get it colored up for a sweet-looking back-up BB...I like the way the trackball moves on the 8800 vs. the Curve...Great BB IMHO...

I've noticed that most Blackberry devices in my company appear to break mysteriously whenever a new model comes out...

I got mine when they first came out, have managed to not drop this one like I did the last one, and have not had any problems with it. Have had to clean the trackball a few times though.

my 8800 has been working fine for the last 18 months except for the trackball which is a real pain. I already returned the device once on warranty, not knowing what to do as far as cleaning, and then the second device has the same problem after only a few months. I've dropped the blackberry a few times onto hard surfaces and amazingly have not damaged it, not even a scratch. Still looking for a good solution to the trackball problems...

Perhaps water damage was a culprit for needing to replace those berry's. Before we got the 88's I deployed 50 or so of the 8703's. Well a few started coming back and we grew suspicious. Under the battery the 'watermark' had turned bright red, indicating some of the BB's had been submersed in water or liquid. My 8830 seems to hold up pretty well after a few drops, although the 8700 'looks' sturdier.

People are amazingly rough on these phones. Sometimes there are legitimate issues but most times when I see a device that is not working it has been damn near destroyed. It is almost amusing to listen and watch as owners claim that the phone is just cheaply made and they should get another free one for all the trouble...

Ding, ding, ding, ding...
We may have a winner...

Amazing how that happens. Just wait for the Bold to come out. Those "old" 8700 and 8800s will be flying around.
