I received an email from my company with the following info:

"ISSUE: Device will randomly drop from 1XEV to 1x, thus losing data connectivity (i.e. no email or internet). Rebooting the device restores connectivity."

They said to resolve this issue, install the software above (the one I pasted in above).

I noticed there is 4.2.2.196 in that file name, so I'm wondering if this is simply the 4.2.2.196 Sprint update for the BB 8830??? If so, I already installed that off Sprint's web site. But do you know if the file name above is really some kind of patch that goes beyond the official 4.2.2.196 update?

It should be the same update that you already have installed.

Thats the same software you have intsalled so thats not going to help. How is your coverage in the area.

Coverage is usually fine for me, especially in the office. I haven't noticed the issue they're talking about. Maybe a few times in the past but not recently. Just thought I'd check to see if it was worth installing this. I started the install and it looks like this is really the handheld device software because it asks if you want to repair the existing install....so I said nope

hell I would run it and repair it just for grins and giggles and see it it fixes it

Verizon just did this update last month. I am waiting for 4.5

I think I'll save the file just in case I start noticing the 1x problem, but so far I seem to be ok. I need to let this 4.2.2.196 run for a few weeks and see if all is well. If I don't notice it going to 1x from 1XEV, then I'll just leave it be. Supposedly the software they sent out to us is a maintenance release.
