Default gps problems

I just got this new bb 8820, can't seem to make the GPS feature work. Tmobile says that you have to subscribe to an internet service with Blackberry in order for it to work. Any ideas?..Also, google maps not working on this phone. As expensive as it is, nothing seems to work..lol

Go to Options > Advanced > GPS.

Click menu (the key left of the trackball) and click REFRESH.

Make certain you are outside in an open area away from tall buildings. If it refreshes, you are good.

You will need a mapping application to use the GPS.
Try out some here: All known GPS Applications for BB

I have tried to refresh it, and it seems to lock on a satellite, however, no maps are displayed on the screen. I downloaded the maps from the BB website, and still does not work..I will try to map it as you suggested.

Thanks

You need a BB dataplan fo rthe Map application to work. Not sure with T-Mo but on an ATT 8800, you can get lat/long coordinates only without a map.

You need to outside with a clear view of the sky. Could take 10 minutes or longer to get a lock.

Yeah, I am able to lock in the sat...it shows my current location, but no maps. I tried "AmazeGps" and i was able to downloaded. However, when I tried it outside under clear skies, it only says " communication error".
Thanks

When you activated your BB with T-Mo, did you also get a BB data plan? You need a BB dataplan for the map applications such as BBMaps and GoogleMaps to work. An ordinary data plan will not work.

no, I don't think so. the only thing that I've done is to download the maps from the bb website but they did not work. this phone has not been activated since I swap my sims card from an old phone, so , is not really a new number.
thanks

For the 3rd time here....you NEED a BB data plan in order to use BBMaps. You need a data plan for ANY mapping application.

There's no way to get any maps on your device without paying for a data plan with TMobile. That's just how this works. You can check the apps all you want but no maps will appear until you get a data plan.
