Why should it take almost 2 hours to download this software? I have high speed broadband that is not slow. Is the slowness due to VZW servers. I have cancelled the download due to length of time.

Doesnt necessarily have to do with your connection. your connection speed is the maximum you can download, there are many other factors. RIM downloads usually run fairly slowly (60-200kbps in my experience)

I discover that if I "run" the software rather than "save" it is much quicker.

Since Verizon uses a 3rd party (vzw.smithmicro.com) to host their software its not surprising that their download speed is not up to par, although I hve never personally experienced this problem.

I have no "explanatioin". Only that it worked for me.

If you are downloading the DM, why not do it directly from RIM instead of VZ.
