First of all thanks and i am a newbie. I learn fast!!!!

I have read several post about this issue but everyones keep saying the "holster". i don't have any "holster"!!!!! meaning no magnet!!!!

I have my BB 8700g, alone. How do i pass to standby mode.
Meaning you press any key and he doesn't show the unlocking keyboard screen, activating the light and spending battery.

Someone said pressing the mute key for a few seconds. At least in OS 4.1 it is not!!! Pressing the POWER BUTTON turn it off but when you press any key it is ON again very fast.

If there is any way via software, where do i have to pass the magnet???

Thanks a lot

i would just buy a case that fits the 8700 and pop out a fridge magnet and duct tape it in side the case that way when you put it in there it will go into standby just an idea that's all

It would be easier to just buy a case with a magnet already built in to it. There is no standby on the 8700g. "Holster" is all there is. There are many blackberry cases/holsters out there that have the magnet.

Run the magnet over the vicinity of the v and b keys.
