The problem I'm having is I have a BB 8830 World Edition phone that is hooked up to our companies BES and all was working great. I also have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on my PC, but rarely use it until I upgraded the Desktop Manager to 4.5. During setup I selected to use BES not BIS, but since hooking up the Blackberry to the PC during the Desktop install my blackberry will not retrieve my work e-mail anymore.

I tried deleting my user account in BES and try re-creating it, but when I try an activate the phone now it never activates. And looking at the server it shows my name, but says Initializing.

Should I not be using the desktop manager, if I'm using BES???

You can use DM as long as you choose BES and not BIS or desktop redirector. I would uninstall DM and remove your account from BES and select yes when prompted to remove blackberry information from your mailbox.Then wipe the handheld. Add your account back to BES and activate it wirelesly by wire.
Then install latest DM 4.5 and make sure you select BES rather then other two options.
