For a couple of days, my trackball has just not been working right. At first it wouldn't scroll down the right way, so I tried putting it on mute and scrolling it every way possible. Then I used a can of compressed air, and eventually opened it op very carefully and cleaned a bunch of gunk out.

Now, scrolling down seems to work allright, but scrolling up does not work AT ALL. It's getting pretty frustrating, I basically can't even use the device!

Any advice--should I call for a replacement--is this even possible if I didn't pay for insurance?

$10 or so will get you a new trackball. Its easy to replace it. Check the link in my sig.

Try save $10 by pressing on trackball and moving upwards in direction that's stuck. That's how I got mine unstuck twice in 2 different directions.

Probably dirt or lint. Do you carry the BB in your pocket?

You can do a search and find a possible solution as this has been discussed many times.

Turn off the BB. Press and roll the trackball int he direction that's stuck. Then roll it around in all directions. If you have some canned air, press the ball and blow the air all around.

Turn on the BB and it should work.
