Is it my charger?
 

I just got a Blackberry 7100t a few weeks ago on ebay and I charged it today because it was on 75% and it was sitting there for 3 hours and I finally went into status and it was still on 85%. So, I said I will give it another hour and it was still on 85%. For a second, I thought my battery finally gave up. But, I just plugged it into my computer via USB and it went up to 90% in 3 minutes. Is it my charger?

Could be your charger, yea.

Sounds like a very slow trickle charge. Is that a wall outlet charger?

Thanks for the quick reply! It is a wall charger. I am guessing it is generic. Or, it could be OEM. It is still on 90%. How many minutes until it should be at 100%? Should I take it off the charger and ware down the battery, then plug it in and try it again?

What type if battery does it use. Unlike the older batteries, the newer LiIon batteries don't have a memory so a good discharge won't help them. Either as JS agreed your charger is bad and is not fully charging or your battery is bad and not taking a full charge any more. I had my Curve plugged into the computer for about 30 minutes and went from about 75% to full.

I think it is an older battery. It is black and I was looking at the newer batteries and they are blue. Is there any other way to test if it is a bad battery or not?

I just unplugged it and took out the battery and put it back in again and it is at 95% now. Weird... I think I may unplug it and use it for a while and if the battery drains quickly that means it is the battery.

Thanks! Well, at least it is only $11 for a new battery with shipping. It is weird, I charged it up about 2 weeks ago and saw no problems.

I just thought of something. Today, I had to bring my Blackberry somewhere and it was still charging, I unplugged it and when I got home I plugged it back in again. Could that have done it?

I had a bad charger on my 8700 a couple of years ago.

I have been having trouble, my battery will say 95% and about a few hours later it dies on me and then the hour glass pops up. Could it be the battery / or the charger? Maybe both?

Could be many things.
