I did a search but didn't come up with an answer.
I'm tethered to my Vista laptop, connected to the internet while I type this ;)
my issue is when I try to VPN using Nortel I get an error:
Unable to contact server. If a firewall is present, it must allow outbound traffic on UDP port 10000.
My VPN client works via WiFi and direct connect to DSL. No issues. I ONLY get this error when connecting through Blackberry tethering or Verizon's AirCard.
**even turning off my firewall doesn't help anything.
Verizon states they do not block ports.
Blackberry says the same.

help? anyone?

Do you know what your signal strenght, if your signal isn't strong enought you might have a problem. You also might want to chat with your I.T. staff or whoever manages the Nortel Switch.

Take the post above advice and contact your IT dept. I tether all the time and don't have any problems with the vpn connection. We use Sonicwall but I'm pretty sure your problem is not with VZW or BB. It could be your vpn client is not set up to look at the standard modem for your internet connection.

Since you're running the "new Coke" of operating systems, can you test this setup from an XP box to eliminate Vista as the culprit?

I was able to connect vi XP machine with the same configuration and Nortel VPN.
Looks like there is some kind of incompatibility with VPN client/Vista and how its going out to the internet.

Did you try diabling IPV6?

It was messing with my VPN connection when I switched to Vista.....

No, I haven't I will try that now..
