Hello, I have an 8700G. Am not based in the US. My oS is 4.2.1.91. I read that there is a new OS 4.5. Can I upgrade to that. Or is it carrier and country specific. I dont want to take a chance and get into a scenario where I cant even revert back.

See the top of the 8700 Discusssion for for the latest OS for your device. It's neither country or carrier specific but I would read up on it in the thread before you jump in as there are a few little things that can help you out.

The OS is model specific only so just make sure you use an 8700 OS. And make sure you follow the directions in the sticky exactly.
