why is it that my blackberry 8830 on sprint, has older operating system software (4.2 as opposed to 4.5) than other blackberrys? why cant i install 4.5 on my phone?

CDMA phone softwae seems to be completed after GSM. 4.5 for CDMA phones is starting to show up.

how long do you think it will be before i can install 4.5? what are the major differences between the two?

You will have HTML email and be able to view some videos on line such as the mobile youtube site.
You will also get Documents To Go, to view and edit Microsoft Office documents. That's really it for the 8830.

Well.. not totally all.... The Media player is improved to have playlists and have a sych capability with iTunes. The Voice Recorder is also now part of 4.5 on the 8830 so the 8830 can act as a digital voice recorder. The browser is also improved.

4.5.0.51 is out there for the 8830 if you look for it. I installed it on a Telus 8830 last week.
