I have posted several messages in this forum regarding wifi connectivity and GPRS, but yet to find a satisfactory answer. I have an 8820 with wifi option and a limited data plan. I'd like to use the data plan only as a last measure and would like to receive my emails via wifi. At the moment, there's only 1 way of getting the wifi to work without affecting the data plan - switching off the mobile network. When the mobile network (and the wifi) is on, the phone/ router fails to obtain/assign an IP for the phone - the wifi appears grey.

Is there any way I can instruct the phone to connect via the data plan only when the wifi is not available? In other words, set wifi as first way of connecting, then GPRS.

2 words first do a soft reset of your phone. when it powers on go to options, advanced scroll down till you see
