Default Newbie with a few questions regarding OS and AIM.....

Please Login to Remove!

I was just curious whats the latest OS out there for the 8830? Ive been looking all over the place and believe 4.5.0.51 Rel74 seems to be the latest...could anyone confirm?

Also I am wanting to install AIM on my phone and have Verizon but keeps saying that its not supported for my phone??? Will this OS resolve that or do I still have to use a third party application?

Thanks in advance....

Your latest OS:

AIM is a third party application for the BB no matter what OS you use, you can use it anyway. I wouldn't, because AIM is horrible. Get JiveTalk for the BlackBerry.

Thanks for the posting....So Im assuming the 4.5 is a Beta Version for our phones correct? The only final OS is 4.2? I actually have the 4.5 on and its working pretty good. Only thing is that I thought I was able to view email attachments but its not letting me???

I guess third party it is.

OS 4.5 for the 8830 has not been released yet.

You can view email attachments , even with OS 4.2

Are you sure??? Because I just uploaded 4.5 rel.74 on my bb and its working fine. It shows 8830 and the OS I just installed on the bb as well. Kind of confused now??

I configured my business email to come to my bb and I have a few emails with attachments but its not letting me view them. Do you happen to know what could be the issue?

The OS you downloaded and installed is beta.

RIM nor any carriers have released it yet.

When you say it is not letting your view your attachments... care to expound on that?

With your beta OS, did you install DocsToGo?

Ok that makes sense so it is the beta version which Im cool with. People are having a few issues here and there but majority are happy with the install so its worth the try. Thanks for clarifications....

Well I currently have my Outlook emails configured with blackberry to send to my handheld as well and I have a few email attachments that I am not able to view.

I loaded the system and took out the vendor.xml which Im not sure if I was supposed to but did that. I havent installed anything else....is that what I need to view attachments is DocsToGo? I thought this OS was able to view attachments in html format????
