Hello, Im in need of a bit of help here.

My blackberry 8820 finds my dlink router, connects to it, but the wifi logo never lights up and when i go onto my browser it uses the edge network rather then the wifi. I have checked my settings and wi-fi is the prefered connection.

Also how do i access blackberry maps?

The phone is unlocked and im using rogers. However it was locked to orange.

Is your router security on? Is your BB configured with security on like your router?

One action I do NOT recommand is to turn off security on your router.

Numerous people are having the same issue. I've found that my connection issues were related to the security settings on the router. If i try to use WPA or WPA2 the phone won't gain access (says it's connected, but Wifi logo never lights up). If I switch the router's security to WEP then the phone connects no problem.

there is no protection on my router because where i live its just not necessary.
