8830 back up error i set up that my blackberry automatically back ups every 7 days. i just noticed that it's not backup at all because it's getting an error. it's application unknow error. what can i do? |
What is the exact error? Does it error during backup of a certain application? |
well i have been trying to get the exact code again since my port is messed up and i really need to back up. when i tried again it said application error unknow exactly. it goes through the motions but stops on the phone log |
Try using the Backup/Restore - Advanced and clear the phone log database (right side pane.) Then try the backup again. Could just be a corrupted phone log database and clearing it out may allow the backup to complete. |
Your spot on but if she clears the address book she cannot back it up... Quote:
John, don't you want her to try and back up the existing address book by itself first?? I would goto the Advanced in the Desktop Manager and backup just the address book first. If your able to backup the address book, then clear the address book and re-import. This will reindex and fix the error if your able to just backup the address book by itself, clear and re-import. She probably has an indexing problem or table error conflict. Usually when that happens the DM will just close without an error. Past my bedtime - I am going to bed... (snoozzee) H. |
ok so back up my address book first only then the phone log? |
Try to back up the phone log by itself Quote:
If you can live without the phone log, clear it by going into advanced. Then backup... (I am going to bed, I can't read anymore...) |
thank you both for your help |
ok i tried to back up again and the error is data was not recognized by device |
Try clearing the phone log database as I described above. |
Having similar issue. Sync is fine. When trying to back up I get the "Error backing up database(s)." Brooklyn, are you using a 4.5 OS on your 8830? |
UPDATE - The upgrade to BB Desktop Manager v4.6 solved my backup failure issue. All is well again in the land of beta. |
Rats! - This whole backup thing is still sketchy at best. Yesterday it failed... today it's working again. Not sure what the deal is but... |
