Question Verizon 8830 Volume Issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys ,

I have read through the forums and it seems like the volume issue has been addressed but I just got my BB8830 less than a month ago and the volume is still low even using the LOUD setting with HIGH Volume.

Also, when using a wired headset (2.5MM) to listen to music, even at its highest setting, I could barely hear anything.

Phone OS Specs:
Backberry 8830
smartphone(GPRS,CDMA)
V4.4.4.196 (Platform 3.0.0.84)

Anyone else have a issue with the above items on the new OS and how did you fix it?

Thank you!

You don't mean the RINGING but hearing people when on a phone call? I can hear mine fine and can turn the volume up and down using the keys on the right side of the phone.

Hmm, I know there is a hearing assist (or something like that) mode and maybe that affects how loud the phone is. Press the GREEN phone key and then press the MENU key (left of trackball) and see if there are any settings you can tweak.

Could be your phone is defective. Head to a store, if possible and check their floor model.

I think you made a typo in the OS version ... 4.2..............

Now ringtones are a known problem.

Sorry the OS is 4.2.2.196

The incall volume is great, and so is the speakerphone. I saw that there are some programs that I can use to change the dB settings on the ring tones, so I can do that .

I want to use the phone at the gym and stuff and the media player volume even at max is very low.

It works fine when its playing on the speakerphone, just very low on the headset (2.5mm)

What kind of headset? Was it designed for the BB? Are you using an 3.5 to 2.5 adapter?

I used a Motorola s9 bluetooth headset and it is fine. I have also used my shure (originally for my Creative mp3 player) with a Verizon 3.5 - 2.5 adapter.

I am using dynex (3.5mm) headphones and a blackberry 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter.

Using the same adapter in the car (aux) seems to be louder but then I have the phone volume control plus the car radio volume control.

But will that increase the volume of my music when using the 2.5mm jack?

Also if I upgrade to 4.5 how will it affect my verizon phone with gps service since verizon doesn't have the release yet?

I had the same issue with the 8830. Even on the high volume, sometimes it can be hard to hear. I think -- though I could be wrong -- that the speaker is so easily covered that it damps the ringtone a bit.
