Default Not getting Email on Alltel

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8830 with Alltel service and I have not received any emails for 2 days now. I have tried pulling the battery and sending service books to no avail. I get the initial message when I send service books but then emails still do not come through.

I have not seen any BB outage message related to this but wondered if anyone else might know if there was a problem with receiving emails on Alltel service this weekend.

Thanks

I would say at this point after two days to call your carrier.

You could be in some very localized outage.

Did you by chance change your email password? I have changed mine but forgotten to change it on the BIS site, just a thought.

Definitely call Alltel and confirm with them that they didn't accidentally delete your BIS or BES plan. I've heard of some strange things being done by some carriers lately.

Well the problem seems to be with my primary email. My blackberry acct and a Yahoo acct I have deliver messages to my device just fine.

I have checked the settings on my primary and everything seems to be correct so I guess I will have to delete it and just start over. I have not made any changes to the account or I would not be getting emails on my laptop and those are apparently coming through fine. So there must be a glitch somewhere down the line.

Thanks for the input. I am going to delete the primary account and start over and see if that works. If not, then I will contact a rep that I have a good relationship with at Alltel and she has a Blackberry and see if she can offer any advice.

oh ok, so not "any emails for 2 days now", which is likely a different deal.

Good luck.

Unhappy

No, not one email from my primary acct has come through. I have not changed anything on this primary email. I have added my Yahoo acct and it comes through fine as well as my BB acct emails come through without a problem.

However, when I go to BIS and go to my primary email and try to edit and save, it gives me an error message. Even deleting acct and re-adding it, gives me same error message. So it almost appears that my email provider has made some sort of change that blocks it from BB's. I have Road Runner which is cable here.

At this point, I am really stumped unless the cable co. has done something. I have gone into the email acct and everything matches to what I have set up in BIS.

Ok it is definitely something my internet provider is doing because all of a sudden I got 3 emails that came through my primary acct and when I went to BIS and tried to edit the acct and save, I no longer got the error message but got the 'acct updated successfully' message.

I do not know maybe they were doing some kind of update and it affected smartphones and it still may not be fixed but at least I got those few messages, so hopefully it will be back on track today.

Who knows. However, it would have been nice if they would have sent out an email alerting people to this possibility so I would have been aware of it.

Sounds a lot like what Apple went through when they upgraded .Mac to MobileMe. And sometimes they can simply be replacing a server that's defective, and that will only affect the users whose accounts are handled by that particular server. Could be a couple thousand people, maybe more, but not everyone.
