Default Properly closing apps?

Is there an official way to shut down/close apps when you're done? like the browser? All I do is hit the red phone button to cancel out of it. I want to make sure there isn't some other way to do this.

Wirelessly posted (8310; The Juggernaut)

Menu, then Close or Exit.
The red end key just throws an app the background in most cases and it will remain running in the background.
