4.5 has not been officially released by any carrier for the 8830 yet. You can install it as many others have. It is still a beta OS and you will have to find it on your own. 4.5.0.77 I believe is the latest beta floating around there.

Default Do you need it now?

I'm a Sprint customer and Sprint has not released the 4.5 version for us yet. I too have heard pros and cons regarding the OS. Personally, I'm going to wait until my carrier releases the update.

I am on Verizon and i have 4.5 on my 8830. I am happy with it. The HTML email is a HUGE plus. Being able to watch youtube videos is also nice. Not to mention docs to go. If you decide to upgrade, remember to remove the vendor.xml file.
