Default Fubar 8830

Please Login to Remove!

Hi;

Sorry if this was covered already, but I cant seem to find it anywhere.

I have an 8830 and the USB connector is broken. I need to get a new phone, but am a week or two late on sync. Since the USB is broken and im using BIS, is there a way via bluetooth (or another way) to get all my new contacts over the past 2-3 weeks (hundredes) over to OUtlook?

Thanks

Yes, but it can be tricky. You have to use the basic Windows drivers for Bluetooth. If you're using the drivers that came with the card (i.e. Toshiba, etc.) then you'll have to uninstall them and let Windows install it's basic drivers.

You can certainly try setting up Bluetooth sync. Or you could probably do a Bluetooth backup as well.

You may have multiple address books then. That happened to me once when I was upgrading the OS frequently... If you go into your address book and select options, how many address books are listed? You'll only sync with the default.

I have tried this and it works....you download the blackberry client OTA, then it backs up your contacts and PIM info where you can access it online. There is also an outlook plugin which you can then use to sync to outlook.

The only reason I never used BT for that is that my BT connection seems to go on and off when Desktop Manager isn't running. Quite annoying.

PS i think it might be possible to have it repaired under warranty, i think its a model related problem where RIM is aware off, we already have had 3 units in our company where we had a physically broken USB connector, all were fixed under warranty....
