Hello, yesterday I updated my BB 7100i from OS 4.1.0.112 to 4.1.0.560 and when the handheld turned on under the clock and date, where NEXTEL used to be it says Sim Card Error, the phone used to work very well.

I was looking in Options>Advanced Options>SIM Card and the information for the sim card is there, I put the sim card in another phone and it works fine, any solutions out there!!

Placing it back in the 7100i, what happens?

in the 7100i, it says "Sim Card Error" it CAN NOT access the Sim Card Address Book or turn on Wireless Signal, but when I go to Options>Advanced Options>SIM Card it displays the sim card information:

Hmm it appears as if the new OS upgrade to your device is not accepting your SIM card, what happens if you flash it to the previous OS?

You may need to get a newer, more recent SIM card from a Nextel store. At T-Mobile they give them to you for free. AT&T too. Just walk in and ask. They should also be able to transfer anything over from your old SIM card to the new one.

That is true, they have all of the technology to transfer data between sim's and also the sim's are about a dime a dozen

You all, thanks for all the info, its working again, I downgrade the OS back to 4.1.0.112 and its back online, I do have another question, I was reading thru the "downgrade the OS" and the "upgrade the OS" tutorials and they both say I have to delete the "vendor.xml" file, when I first upgrade to the "4.1.0.560" (which was the one with the SIM Error issue") I did not delete the "vendor.xml" file, does anyone think that was the problem in the first place?

another thing that I think could be the problem is that when I upgraded from 4.1.0.112 to 4.1.0.560 I jumped "OS 4.1.0.525", any way, my 7100i is back on line, I just have a crush on having it up dated, since itxxx8217;s pretty old itxxx8217;s the only way to stay "on top", thanks all for your help!!

Removing the vendor.xml file would allow that OS to be used on the same device on a different carrier.

For example, you could load an AT&T released OS for say an 8300 on a Tmobile 8300 device.

You have to be a bit more specific in your request. there are different models of the 71xx series and each one would require an individual OS.

For example, 7100i, 7105, 7130e, 7130g.

Ever since i upgraded to 4.1.0.377, i can't send text messages. No compose options for sms or mms, i do get "email" and "pin" options.

So are you looking to downgrade?

What version did you have on your device prior to upgrading?
