Default Calendar Entries Vanished: Memory problem?

Please Login to Remove!

I suppose a good way to introduce myself would be with a technical question. Might as well keep up the trend, right?

I have a BlackBerry 8830 that I bought through Sprint in October of 2007. Up until recently I have had no complaints. This last issue, however, has got me a little worried.

I just noticed that almost all of my Calendar entries have disappeared. The only one left was the last one I entered (Added 2008-08-21 for 2008-11-25). Research on the matter explains several possible reasons for this; the most logical being a memory issue.

If I go into Options->Status, my memory usage is as follows:

Code:
File Free: 11211376 Bytes
File Total: 47841280 Bytes
That equates to about 23.4% left sans the calendar entries that have all vanished. This does seem like a very small amount of space, but is it enough to justify deletion of about only a few dozen calendar appointments? Why would it delete upcoming appointments as well? And why would it leave one entry alone?

Welcome to the forums. Yes 11MB is considered very low. I would suggest you see the link below to free some space. I have not heard of Calendar events being deleted but you never know. It usually presents with disappearing call logs and Messages.

You didn't state if you were on BIS (Synching with Cable) or BES (Over the air synching). If you cable synch what happens when you launch desktop manager and say "Synch now"?

The reason I never mentioned it is because I do not sync at all. I run Linux on all my PC's, so I don't have Desktop Manager installed. I doubt it will work through VMWare, so I'll have to find someone that has a PC running Windows that I can borrow to try it out.

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately there is no way I can reproduce the calendar purge, so we'll just have to see if that keeps everything where it should be.

Default Empower?

By any chance, are you running Empower?

I was, from time to time, losing calendar entries. They went down from about 4000 appointments since 2001 to the 45 or so that are current or future.

I always had lots of memory available.

Once I switched off Empower, the problem has not recurred.

Empower is a GREAT program but their tech support SUCKS. I emailed them a month or more ago about this issue and still no response. And it's not freeware.
