Hi,

My 8820 on Orange UK is having this problem since yesterday: whenever I try to make a call, immediately the message "Call Failed!" appears, together with a sound. Also, when someone tries to call me, it immediately redirects to my voicemail.

I don't have problems with emails, internet, etc...

Please help!

Did you try pulling the battery? That seems to cure many ills.

What were you doing just before the problem began? Load any apps? Upgrade the OS? Change any settings? Etc.?

The person who sold me the phone decided to try to scam the insurance company and reported it as lost/stolen. Hence they blocked the IMEI.

The problem is now solved (thanks to Orange and police), however I'll be sure this idiot will pay for his actions.

From a very helpful Orange Insurance representative:

"Dear Mr xxxxxx,

Very happy to hear that your handset is again working and appologies for the inconvience this morning, unfortuatly the measures we have in place to help curb the illegal trade of mobile phones sometimes means that honest ebay users like yourself fall victim to insurance fraud. It appears clear that this is what had happened in your case. The vendor you purchased your handset from has explained his actions by telling us that his younger brother effectively stole his phone from their shared house in april without his knowledge it was then sold to yourself again alledgedly with out his knowledge (even though the ebay account was also in his name) The cust claimed further that as far as he was aware the handset that he was claiming for was in use by his brother and that yesterday his brother reported to him the handset lost and for this reason he called orange to report the loss and begin the insurance claim to try and get a replacement phone. Thankfully he has now advised us that his brother has come clean and therefore as you yourself had bought the handset in goodwill that he was happy for the blocks to be lifted and any insurance claim retracted. Orange have inturn put a flag on the customers account which effectively bans him for having or taking Oranges insurance policy, we will not persue the matter more unless of course the Police wish to do so and in that case may i offer my full cooperation in any investiagtion that is to take place, you have my email contact and may I also give you my extension number xxxxxx and if you have any further queries surrounding the matter please do not hesitate to contact myself
