Default 8707G wont charge in the car

Please Login to Remove!

Just been given a BlackBerry 8707G - It will charge fine from a normal 3 pin socket using the charger provided. Also charges fine from the USB port on my laptop. However, it wont charge from the car lighter socket, using the car charger provided with it. The charger LED comes on but the phone doesn't charge. Thought I had a faulty charger, so went and bought another, and again exactly the same problem.

Any suggestions??

Are you sure the car charger is for a Blackberry? Many won't charge the BlackBerry.

The 1st charger was supplied by the car kit company that fitted the Parrot hands free unit. The 2nd charger I bought off ebay, and it said it was suitable for a BlackBerry, but perhaps not........

Guess the only answer is to buy one from BlackBerry to be sure?

Wirelessly posted (By Super Blackberry)

Yes some chargers will not work with others so if you have a charger that "fits" a blackberry it might not have the power so to speak to charge your phone because it was designed for a totally different phone.

The chargers have the same mini usb but the wiring is different on some of them. There was a post around here on the specifics but I don't recall where it was or what the details were.
