Latest OS: 8700 4.5.0.92/4.50.69 (Multilanguage) BlackBerry 8700 Smartphone [f] BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.92 (Multilanguage) Package Version: 4.5.0.92 Consisting of:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...A5DFF913DF997A Scroll to the bottom of the list and choose "BlackBerry 8700 Smartphone [f]" Instructions for installing on ANY 8700 (regardless of carrier) 1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. If not, get it here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22 2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the OS file you downloaded. 3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader 4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade. The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device. Downloading now.... 10% done hahah |
I upgraded an 8700c that I had previously unlocked. The upgrade installed fine, but now it seems that it has re-locked to AT&T (note I did remove the vendor.xml file). I don't have my unlock code handy, but I'll try it if I can find it. Has anyone else experienced this? When I insert my T-Mobile SIM, I get an "Initialization Failed" message. I've tried taking the battery and SIM out and restarting. Any ideas? Note I had my T-Mobile SIM in the BB for the entire process. |
Upgraded !! All went well. The onlyn thing I have noticed is that now whe I synchonize with Outlook the Adress book I got an error if doing the 2 way sync. In only works if doing One way sync (from device to Outlook) |
Any noticeable improvements from the last version? |
I got lot less hourglasses using this version. |

Done. |
I did the upgrade this morning and all went well.. But I have just discovered that I can't do ALT+I and ALT+O under messages (to show Out and In boxes).. This certainly worked before, so I can only confirm that its a bug introduced by the new firmware.. Can anyone else confirm this? I have already pulled the battery just in case, but I still have the same problem. Jon |
I came from 4.2, but what happened to the delete on "Handheld and Mailbox" feature when deleting emails? |
