Is there an option to mark all messages in an inbox as read?

yes, scroll to the date line... highlight it, hit menu, and select "mark prior opened"

For a quicker way to get to the date line, press "t" to go to the top then press menu > mark prior opened.

Awesome. I've been selecting all my unread messages using Shift, and then hitting Mark Opened. This should be a bit quicker.
