Alltel had to give my daughter a replacement 8830 because when she tried to backup and then sync her phone, it completely wiped out her address book on the phone. No matter what the desktop mgr program would not load her address book back to her phone. That is in addition to several other problems she has been having.

So anyway they sent her a replacement 8830 and now we need to reload all her info to the new phone. Is it better to backup the old phone and then restore the data to the replacement? Or to just sync the replacement with a one way sync from PC to phone? I want to be sure we get her current address book on the new phone and since we have never had to do this, I am unsure which is the best way to do this. Should be load 4.5 to the replacement before we load everything?

Hey! I would do a backup of the old device (just in case) then use the Switch Device Wizard. It should be a snap. If it fails then restore the backup to the new phone. Be sure to update the BIS site with the new PIN and IMEI.
