I am a brand new BB noob.
This is my first BB. I inherited this almost new 7100t from my brother which came with v4.0 already installed. I have to use speakerphone to have any kind of diaogue. Unfortunatly this does not go well when I am in a restaurant or any other public place. I have actually searched these boards for a post noting a fix.
The predominate opinion seems to be to downgrade to v3.8 for functional sound.
So...my question is:
Can I just install 3.8 as an overwrite of 4.0 (which I have on desktop). Or do I have to first uninstall 4.o? More perplexing what do I do about the 4.0 that is on my 7100t? Will intalling 3.8 on my desktop and downloading 3.8 to handheld overwrite 4.0 that is the current OS?
There are threads here that detail the steps to downgrade the OS. Once I downgraded mine, the phone problems went away, but the BB would hang and have other random annoying behaviours.
I have 3.8 installed and it works great. No problems whatsoever. I had terrible static with 4.0.
Today I spoke to a Tmo rep who told me that the latest software fixes the static problem. I was surprised because previously all Tmo reps had told me that they had never heard of the problem, but this lady admitted it.
Is she right? Does 4.0.2.32 fix the static problem?
haha. i never had static issues in the past. just wait a few more weeks (it got pushed back) for the new software revision. that should address some of the issues, if they are to be addressed.
