Default compatibility with vista

Please Login to Remove!

i just bought an unlocked BB 8700g with the t-mobile sign on it. i am using it in israel on the orange network. as a phone it seems to be working pretty well. i am brand new to blackberries, but i am assuming that this device should be able to do more than just make phone calls. i am having trouble connecting my laptop (dell xps m1330 w/bluetooth). i am running windows vista sp1 32 bit. i am getting the impression that there are some compatibility issues here with something or other. does anyone know of any specific issues that my version of windows may have with blackberries, in general or with the 8700g, and any solutions to them? the blackberry desktop manager is not working either with this device. and i keep getting error messages when i try to install newer versions of the manager that either say "This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between this version of Windows and BlackBerry Bluetooth Device." or "driver software not found" etc. etc.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I have Vista and am running DM 4.2. No major issues. Which DM are you using?

On the 8700 series, you need OS 4.2 as a minimum for Bluetooth data. OS 4.1, B/T is voice only.

If you use Vista, you need Desktop Manager 4.2 SP 2 as a minimum.

I suggest you look at the FAQ on here and also download a user guide for the 8700 series to learn what the device can and cannot do. Google Search will help find a user guide.
