Default Help getting online

Please Login to Remove!

I was just given my mother's old BB 8700, and I put my 3G SIM card into it from my sync. I had an unlimited data plan with my SYNC, and I've read that you can use a generic data plan through third party applications on the BB, and I've been trying to do that. I've tried over a dozen different APN settings and I can't seem to get online, what should I do?

I have tried all of those, is there something specific I should do?

Wirelessly posted (8320 Titanium)

Is the BB unlocked?? What carrier was the BB on, and who are you trying to use it with???

Try here to get it unlocked if needed.

I'm not sure what you mean by unlocked, I'm sorry, I just got this thing. The BB was on AT&T when my mother used it, and it still is with my SIM card. I tried the remote unlock just to see from the URL you gave me and it asks for a Network MEP code, I don't know what that is.

If it was on ATT and you are using it on ATT you don't need it unlocked...you should fine using it...was this your mothers personal device?

To get online you need Opera installed. Without a BB data plan you can only use the opera browseran do you have that?

Yes I have Opera installed and it runs the tests but fails at the end, saying it can't connect to the internet.

I may be mistaken, but, I don't think the 8700c for ATT is a 3g phone...I wonder if having the 3g sim card is messing things up...do you have a regular card you could try or know someone who does that you could use?
