Default Moving around in text

Dumb question: if I've typed some text and then discover that several words back I made a mistake, how do I navigate back there to correct it? I can't figure out how to move the cursor around in text.

You can hold down the shift key and use the jog dial...you'll move character by character.
The jog dial w/o the shift key moves line by line.

Are you on a 7100? O-P is the same key. I don't think this will work.

I was hoping this was the answer, but it's not. Shift-jog does move letter by letter, but in SELECT mode: it selects all the text that you move past. That's not what I want. I simply want to move the cursor to some point in the text.

Is this not possible on the 7100? How odd if it's not!

In answer to my own question: it's alt-jog.
