tathepilot, are you on cingular?
I just switched to a 7290 on Cingular from a 7250 on Verizon.
I was used to getting the bookmark page that Concept talks about above, but on Cingular, the icon is for a "Cingular Browser", not "Internet Browser" like my old 7250. The "Cingular Browser" icon takes you directly to a Cingular WAP homepage.
The only option I can see is to change the Home Page Address under "Options" in the browser (by default, it is set to
http://device.home). This still isn't the preferred solution in my mind - I would prefer the bookmarks page.
I don't see any way to set it differently on mine, but maybe it will at least help you to set a different homepage than Cingular's (?)
