and I'm hesitating at the brink.

Hi all,

I am a long-time Treo user (300 -> 600) on Sprint for the past 4 years. My major use for the Treo is the Email (SnapperMail) and webbrowsing (sports scores for son, some forum reading, etc). I am probably a serious poweruser on that level. Interestingly, though I am a professional and *should* be using the Palm scheduling function on the Treo I really do not, so that is not a big deal.

The major Palm-centric use I have is Vindigo (very useful for going into Manhattan).

Basically all is well....except my Phone reception is profoundly terrible. Everyone complains ...dropouts, inconsistent ringing. It's bad enough that I have begun to consider carrying a regular cell phone ...that I know I will constantly forget to carry.

I am the only one in the family on Sprint, everyone else is on Verizon, so my husband suggested I think about moving to Verizon and switching to the 7250. (His ulterior motive is that he hates dealing with Sprint CS . )

I know a fair number of you have made this switch. I'm not sure how many of you have done it to gain improved *phone* service, but that is truly my motivation. I would definitely invest in the best BT headset available. I suppose I would do this with the hopes that the trade-off in function (which may be small) would be minor compared to having a phone that actually works.

Any input, advice would be appreciated. BTW, I use a Mac, but to be honest my sync needs are modest.

I am very happy with my 7250. EarthLink is my carrier. They use the Verizon network so the coverage & call quality is the same as Verizon's but have much better customer service (I was a Verizon customer for 10 years). I live & work in areas where many cell phones do not work well but I rarely have less than 5 bars. My husband just ordered a 7250 from EarthLink and got it for $99 with activation fees waived.

I'm from Southern California originally and still get back there with some frequency --- it's good to know that the Verizon coverage is good back home. It's definitely the best coverage here in the Northeast.

So yesterday I dropped by Sprint (usually a form of torture), received the usual lousy and rude customer (dis)service and decided to at least try a 7250 on Verizon for a couple of weeks (was able to add a line to our family plan).

I already *really* like the email, looking forward to setting up some filters. And I will start fiddling with the web access.

If the phone reception truly is better (I am actually getting decent strength in my house for the first time), then I think the Treo (and Sprint) are history.

I vote "Earthlink" as well. Avoiding Sprint's "customer service" is reason enough for switching.

I have experienced better call quality (holding onto calls, signal quality, etc.) on my Verizon BB7250 than I did on a previous Verizon phone (Motorola V60s).

I can vouch for the SoCali reception on Verizon...my company switched to VZW for that sole reason (in addition to the upgrade from a 7280 unit)

There's no comparison now, inasmuch as coverage is concerned...Verizon may not always have the best toys, but coverage they can't be beat.

OK, I am already enjoying the 7250 ...amazing after 3 years of hard-core Treo use!

Now to pick out a good Bluetooth headset.

Girion, what do you think of your Jabra coupled to the 7250 on the VRZ network?

Quite honestly, I love it. I've not experienced any issues that others have reported: I've got no static, others have little problems hearing me, and battery life is quite good (for the uses I put it too - the more use, the quicker you deplete both batteries, obviously)

Some say its too big and bulky; I prefer that "style" than the over the ear units offerred by Motorola. Thats mostly a personal preference thing I'd say. Overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10...and I only give it a 9 because its too addicting to use all the time!

I have a mint condition Jabra headset and car charger to sell !! Works great. Just got a different one for a gift...hit me up if you want more info
