One quick question:

I was kind of thinking of a solution for the problem with those unerasable bookmarks TMo programmed on the 7100t.... (not to mention the theme that comes by default with the TMo units)

RIM provides links for Cingular, TMo, etcc. customers to download the latest version of handheld software. Just went looking for them but cant find them this moment, tho...


Couldnt a 7100t be reflashed with a generic version of the OS (non-customized for the carriers)? I know that with Sony Ericsson phones you can get the uncustomized firmware loaded for a charge if you buy the phone from a carrier. Couldn't the same theoretically be done on a 7100t? (provided there is such a thing as a generic firmware for it)

Well that would mean that RIM would have to support customers, which they don't do.

All devices are blasted out for the operators.

The operator supports the device.

Well I loaded so-called cingualr software on my tmo 7230, just had to modify the vendor.xml... But I still don't think that is "generic" firmware and it didn't solve any issues you would want it to...

Can anyone confirm that your non Tmobile 7100 has a hideous list of bookmarks also? :P

Would it be possible to flash a TMobile 7100 with the Vodafone 7100 software and it would still work on the TMO network?

Maybe I should just shut up and be patient, waiting for OS 4.0 with nice themes...

Unbranded 7100 code still has the bookmarks. The list of bookmarks come with the "BlackBerry Internet Service" service book. If you delete it they will go away, but of course so will your HTML Browser unless you have BES/MDS.

I just flashed my 7100t with the 128 version from Vodafone, and guess what, it's been reset to the Vodafone theme, so it does work

Navliyn - you are replying to a post from October of 2004. I think everyone knows that you can apply any carriers OS to any similar model.
