Question Cingular vs. Suncom (How can I chose a Network?)

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 7100g and am nearly happy and want to stay with Cingular. However, at my house, about 1 in 10 times I get SunCom. (I know this because I do a 7 digit dial and the message is from SunCom telling me to dial 10.) 7 in 10 times I get 1 bar from Cingular. (I've been meaning to hit more bars in more places, but I'm not a real drinker.) When I 10 digit dial on the SunCom signal, it is CLEARER. I'm assuming that my house is nearer to a SunCom tower than to a Cingular tower. (I'm in NC.)

I'd like to be able to chose networks. My buddy with a Treo can do that and he bought his Treo from Cingular.

Am I looking for an UNLOCK code? I want to leave my Cingular SIM in. I'd just like to change preference order from time to time.

Is this do-able?

Thanks y'all!

You must be in North Carolina. I am not sure this will work but it is what I do when I roam in your neck of the woods. Set your network selection to Manual instead of automatic, do a scan, and then select Cingular. It then should not switch to Suncom automatically. Again, I say it "should" not switch but may be wrong.
