Default Nextel 7100i release this fall

Please Login to Remove!

Talked to a NEXTEL BB Tech trouble shooter today. He told me he is testing the 7100i now and has had it 2 weeks. He is NOT impressed. Loves his 7520 hates the 7100i. It fell off his desk on to a carpeted floor and it cracked the screen. He described it as cheap feeling, plastic looking, and not near as durable as the 7520. He also is not liking the keyboard as the software that tries to finish the words for him as he types is causing as many problems as it fixes.

Made comment if history is an indicator they test units 2 to 3 months before final release.

That narrows down the choices even further for me. Looks like either Cingular or another 7520.

I know this is an old post, but as far as the guy who dropped it on the carpet. Dropped mine today (24 Hrs old, nearly cried) on the pavement in the parking lot, couldnt even find the scratch. I think its just as durable as the 7520 (old BB). Cept I didnt get pissed at the GF one time and threw it (7520) against a wall and nothing happened. Nextel phones are indestructable!!
