I'm planning to buy a 2nd hand BB 7230 from a friend.
I dont have the blackberry service right now.. can comeone help me with a few of my queries , please...

1. I need to setup 5 email accounts on the BB7230 & i want the 7230 to fetch my email every 30mins... remember i dont have the BB service active...only GPRS. Can i do this?? Basically i want to know if it has PULL Email as well.

2. can i syn my outlook contacts to my BB 7230. I ave about 800 contacts. i hope that will fit??

3. can i use my BB 7230 as a modem to connect my laptop to the internet using the BB7230's GPRS connection.--Just let me kow if its possible.. even if its a complicated process.

4. is there anyway that i can get Fax on my BB7230.

Please let me know as soon as possible, i want to finalise the deal today itself.

1. No; without the BlackBerry Data Service you can not get any e-mail to the BB

2. Yes; download the latest version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager from the RIM web site. It will allow you to sync your contacts, notes, tasks and calendar from Outlook.

3. No; the 7230 can not be used as a modem. Even if you did have the BlackBerry Data Plan

4. Not without a BB data plan.

thanks a ton.. so basically..not much use for me..
my main issue was to get my emails via PULL technology using my GPRS account only. but not with BB service.

Currently my Nokia 9500 pulls my emails every 30mins..whcih is perfect for me...but the phone a bit to heavy to carry around...

Sounds like the BB is not the right device for you. The speciality is push e-mail...

I dont ind taking the BB service but here in India, the BB service would cost me too much, maybe more than what the my total bill amount is coming right now.

also one more quick thing... once i have my BB service activated..would i be able to configure my company email address on the BB handset...i want to be able to access 5 company email address & 1 gmail email account.

i usually access my company email via pop3 settings on my nokia 9500 or outlook & so is the same case with GMAIL.

is this possible... i think its about time i get a full demo of this phone...

i read somewhere that the BB7100G has both the PUSH & PULL technologies.. is that true??
