Default 7100t Unlocked on Cingular. Limitations?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all.

I just received an unlocked T-mobile 7100t that I popped my Cingular SIM card in to. It works fine with voice and SMS, which I was told. Is that pretty much all I can do without registering it on Cingulars data service?

I dont need the corporaate email and things, but it would be nice to send and receive emails VIA this setup, maybe using media net?

If I need to sign up for Cingulars blackberry planm any suggestions? Can I even register this phone to do so since it is unlocked? Or do I need to purchase a Cingular locked phone?

I know this is a lot of questions, and I apologize if I have missed prior threads, but after reading weeks of posts, I cannot seem to find the answers.

Much appreciated.

This has been answered sooooo many times.. But here's one more:

1) You can not get any sort of e-mail unless you get the BlackBerry Data Plan from CIngular. Not media net or anything else. Just the BlackBerry Data Plan. Without the BlackBerry Data Plan you can only do voice and SMS, as you've experienced. You can also sync your contacts, notes, tasks and calendar. Just no e-mail or web browsing.

2) You can register the phone, but if it was previously registered on the BlackBerry Web Server (now called the BlackBerry Internet Service) you will have to have it released by the old carrier (and T-Mobile may request that the prior owner release it).
