Question Network Banner - Verizon 7250

Please Login to Remove!

Question...I just switched from Cingular 7290 to Verizon 7250. On the 7290, the banner on the home screen read "Cingular". However, my new 7250 does not display anything in the banner.

I can make calls & receive email. I programmed the phone twice calling "*228"...no problems. Even called VZW CS and they said the line looked fine from their view.

I've never had a BB that did not display the carrier network on the banner...

Is there an option I'm missing? Do others on Verizon have a blank banner?

Thanks!

My 7250 is with Bell Mobility in Canada. And I don't have a banner either. Under "network" (in options) the carrier name is listed. Although this hasn't worked for me while roaming in the U.S.

SHHHHH be quiet. I have always been removing the frigging banners and now you are asking if you are missing something cause you dont have one. Look on the outside of the phone just below the frigging space bar and there is your banner. Darn I have tried to remove that even with nail polish remover and almost ruined the phone. If I have to have their name on my phone I want rent.

There's no problem...just a curious question and was making sure my new BB & service were set up correctly.

Tough crowd here...

I thought the displayed Verizon banner was an indication that you were on the owned network. Just a thought, could have sworn I heard/read that somewhere. I do have the Verizon logo at the top of my display.

I peeled that off as soon as the rep. handed me my Blackberry after he programed it.

Do tell. I'd love to know how to free up some LCD real estate on my Nextel.

Well i removed them from other previous phones because I do not like to see them (LGVX4400 and LGVX4500). On the BB it has never been there, if others have it and see it on the 7250, it must either be a feature I do not have turned on, however i did not do it intentionaly, it just has never shown there and I am glad because if not I would be looking for a way to remove it. I am on BWC so I do not know if that has something to do with it as oppossed to BES.

My 7250 came with the Verizon banner. When it is not in use and just sitting on my desk the big red V banner moves onto the screen. It would be nice to take it off and add my own banner.

Oh ok that is the standby screen, that is easy enough to change, as long as you have another picture no matter what. Go to pictures, scroll to the one you want click on the wheel and choose to set as the standbyscreen, Done, I thought you mean a banner like in the LGVX4500

The network banner feature is more for GPRS devices. As GPRS networks allow the user to manually select a network while roaming, this feature is important. Billing can differ between networks, and you need to know that you're on the right network.

With CDMA 1X, network roaming is controlled via the PRL. Therefore, no need for the user to know which network they're on--other than personal curiousity.
