Default Newbie with 8700c troubles

Hello all! My wife bought me a 8700 and it's like putting a 5 year old in the drivers seat of the Space Shuttle and saying "HAVE FUN!" Plus, they did not build this thing for folks with big fingers. I did searching before asking the same questions but after spending 3 hours reading I'm more confused and frustrated than a 2 finger retard trying to send a text message.

So here's what I'm trying to do I want to put pics n ringtones on my phone thru a usb cable from my pc to my phone. I downloaded upgrades and all that went fine but the media manager thing-a-ma-jigger doesn't work. Plus, when I click on the media sync it goes to a Ipod setup. I don't have a Ipod and haven't a clue where this thing is coming up with that unless the previous owner had one and now it's lonely and wanting its buddy back.

After spending what felt like a week I finally figured out how to get this thing to tell me what version I downloaded into it. Here is what I have loaded into it:

Blackberry Device Manager 4.3.1.12
BBDevMgr 4.1.0.5
RIM USB Driver 4.1.0.4
Rim USB Serial Driver 2.1.0.4

I've read that there is a 4.2 that needs to be downloaded to make the picture swapper thingy work. If someone can look this over and tell me what I need to do and supply download links I will owe ya bigtime.

Thanks!

Desktop Manager v.4.6 with Media Manager can be downloaded to your PC here:
BlackBerry - Desktop Software - BlackBerry Desktop Software at BlackBerry.com

On your BlackBerry, go to Options > About
this will show you the handheld device software version and platform

Do you have a data plan over and above your voice plan (at AT&T a Personal BB Plan costs $35 with a discount of $5 with qualifying voice rate plan)

send me a (P)rivate (M)essage by clicking on my name upper left...we need to determine a few things before you get very frustrated.
