I just got my blackberry yesterday, and I'm still trying to figure everything out. I downloaded the 4.5 version of the desktop manager, and when I plug in my phone both my computer (running on Vista) and the program recognize it. When open media manager, it says that there is no device connected. I know that my 8700c phone can play MP3s and it has a folder for photos, but I can't figure out why it isn't connecting and why I cannot add anything from my computer to my device. Can anyone PLEASE help? Thanks!

Roxio media manager opens up without producing errors even if you dont connect a berry. I find it strange that you get feedback. Start the Desktop, then connect your device, wait until you see your PIN (where it says NONE) and when your device is successfully recognized start the media manager from the Desktop's menu and look for your device on the right hand side column of connected devices.

I am not having any luck with the Desktop Manager under Windows Vista Business, SP-1.
It seems just way too buggy. The DM under XP, SP-3 seems fine.

I am using DM 4.7 on Vista, works just fine. You can use the same.

Which version of Vista ? Did you have to separately install Roxio ?

Roxio media manager comes with one of the multimedia versions of Desktop Manager. Basically there are 4 versions.

English - with media
English - without media
Multilanguage - with media
Multilanguage - without media

Go to ://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/ and scroll down to the
Download BlackBerry Desktop Software including service packsn link and select the version that best suits your needs from the dropdown menu.

I got 4.5 and 4.7 under Vista with no issues.
