Default 7100i incoming text messages not working

Hi All,

Sprint had an MMS outage this morning. Since then sms messages sent from other carrier cell phones to a 7100i's phone number are not being received.

We attempted to:
pull battery
delete MMS and MMS transport service books and resend.
Register unit through host routing table
Sprint tech support tried several things on their end to no avail.

The tech support called back and said "Sorry, the 7100i does not support receiving SMS messages".

This worked up until the system outage this morning.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've been having somewhat the same issues with my 7100i since this around noon. I can't recieve or send MMS messages and have tried all of the above options except calling support.

Supposedly the tech escalated the issue to tier 3 support. He then emailed me back and stated I had to call RIM since the 7100 is not designed to accept SMS messages.

What a load of crap. Wait til I call our government rep tomorrow. The 7100i is the County Administrator's unit (until his 8350i ships next week). This is exactly the type of idiotic support that is prompting us to investigate other carriers for a 400+ subscriber fleet.

We have already met with Verizon (their PTT is NOT ready for prime time).

We have a meeting set up with Sprint later this month and one of the top subjects is why whould we stay with Sprint/Nextel when we get this kind of service?

Fixed the problem. Seems after the MMS outage yesterday they refreshed the provisioning table and it flagged an error. Once they did a refresh again the inbound text messaging started working.

Too bad the tech I spoke to yesterday that supposedly escalated the problem to tier 3 support didn't know what he was doing.
