Default Hard Reset When Turning Bluetooth Off

Please Login to Remove!

I am currently using a Jabra BT250 with my 7100t and every now and then especially if I've left Bluetooth on for more than a few hours; when I go to turn it off, my phone automatically does a hard reset. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with a Jabra Bluetooth headset or any other brand for that matter.

I think if you do a search you will find in another thread that this is a common occurence with the Jabra headsets but not the Motorola ones.

I first had the Jabra 250 and was having that problem as well. I switched to the HS810 and for a few weeks it was trouble free but just today my phone reset on me 3 times. I have the .128 firmware as well. It seems to occurr if I keep the headset connected for a long period of time. My guess is that it's a software problem that will HOPEFULLY be addressed soon. Anyone else having these problems with the HS810. I know a lot of people haven't.

I just leave bluetooth on so I don't get any hard resets when turing it off. My HBH-65 does however lose a connection after a long period of time and I have to re establish it. Its no big deal but it really shouldnt lose the connection.

It happens with my Sony HBH 660 after long periods I'll lose connection if I turn the 660 off it does a hard re-set.

The 660 will not re-establish so you gotta turn it off when it loses connection.

Did not do this for the first week I had the Headset.

Default Motorola H700

I have the newest Motorola H700 and a 7100T. I get hard resets almost every time I use the headset.

I have the 7130e from VERIZON and the BT500 from Jabra. What happens with me is that when I turn of the actual headset it hard resets the phone. So then I decided to go into the Bluetooth setings and "disconnect" the device. That did a hard reset on the phone as well. The only way I can find to turn of my bluetooth headset is by turning bluetooth off from the icon on the home screen. But it sounds like that is exactly what some others are doing and they get a hard reset too.

Default 7130e hard reset

I'm using the 7130e with the Parrott Easy Drive and am also experiencing hard reset when the BB is trying to access the handsfree. Because the connection was not being made, I went into the BT options and tried to disable and then re-enable the device. It was then that the BB reset. I've also encountered the problem, however, with BT off. The latest occurred while dowloading software (Newsclip). A real pain. Has anyone spoken with Verizonwireless about this problem. I've seen posts in other forums mention upgrading the BB's firmware using the Telus version from the RIM website and that that upgrade put and end to the reset problem.

I have BT in my car and a Motorola BT headset. Both cause resetting. Patiently awaiting the OS fix.

I was also experiencing resets with my Verizon 7130e and have found what seems to have fixed it for me..

I am using a BT Plantronics 320 headset, the 7130e BB and I was also paired with my BT radio for my laptop.

It seems that when I would end the connection with my laptop, then use my headset, when i turned the headset off I would do a hard reset.

With some testing I have found that if I closed the BB desktop and the BB device manager, then my laptop would disconnect correctly and my headset does not cause a hard reset.

Makes sense, since BT is a one-to-one protocol. If the BB thinks it was still connected to something else it would cause a reset to fix the problem...

Those of you using BT for connection to your desktop and using a BT headset, try to close the BB desktop and the device manager before using your headset. You will notice that when the desktop software is fully closed the LED on the BB will show that you are not connected to the desktop anymore...

Try it, it worked for me !

I have:
8700c on Cingular v. 4.1.0.194 that has the BT on/off shortcut on the left shortcut key
BT Plantronics Discovery 640

Sometimes when I will turn off the BT on the BB using the shortcut key it will do a hard reset. Since this problem has repeated itself a couple of times I have decided to leave BT turned on my BB. Not a fix but a work around. This more than likely is a version issue w/Cingular.

I think this is what my problem is being caused by also.

Does RIM have any hot fix out for this? Do they know about it?

Mine doesn't give me a hard reset ... it calls the last phone # that I called using the Jabra BT. Does that happen with anyone else?

The problem still exists. I've had it with 2 T-Mobile 7100t's and a moto h850 and h700. It eventually screwed the first 7100t to the point where it could no longer sync with the wireless network. It would detect it at full strength and just keep sending. Then it would stop, search for network, and do the same thing again. This happened even when I manually set it to T-Mobile. It also created it's own IMEI number which was also truly bizarre.
