Default Error 561...Please Help!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, well I have the error 561 on my 8800 device. I tried everything like updating the software, even downgraded to 4.2 but it still doesn't work. When I go to desktop manager to reload OS, it gives me option to select which OS I want to load and then goes to "Connecting to Device". After that, it tries to connect and then says "The desktop loader is unable to connect to device. You may need to enter the password on device" ( I did not have any password on there) Someone please help me!

This is actually from the bb support site:

The BlackBerry device has an hourglass on the screen, and eventually displays the following error message: Error 561

In this case, Error 561 may actually be Error 507. On some BlackBerry device models, the 0 and the 7 together appear as a "squished" 61. To determine if this is the case, check to see if the circle of the 6 has a slash through it. A normal number 6 does not have this, but a 0 does.

In any case Error 507: A dependency on a COD file could not be satisfied because the COD file is missing. Translated meaning the OS is corrupt.

The fix is to reload the OS. How do I upgrade the OS on my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ

You may need to wipe it first: How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

Default Error 561 Problems

My wife & I have Curve's (8300). We both recevied an email from BB to upgrade our OS a few days ago. I upgraded mine without issue and was stoked on it, so I convinced my wife to do so with hers. About 3/4 the way through the update (around the 10th step of 11), her phone locked up with some random symbol with a circle & slash through it with "561" listed below it. I eventually ended up trying to cancel the upgrade, but the loader kept telling me it couldn't connect to the phone (even though USB was connected). I tried to remove the battery, but upon rebooting, the phone went right back to that crazy symbol. I see on your website there is the "It could be a 507 error". IT'S 561 - NOT 507!!! I also tried an OS downgrade, but the desktop manager won't even recognize her phone so the app loader is worhtless for her phone. All we did is follow BB's advice to upgrade our OS, now her phone is a paperweight. There has to be some remedy. Please tell me there is...

My phone kept switching between error 507 and 561. Treat them as the same thing. I couldn't get my phone to properly connect no matter how hard I tried (it also crashed while trying to update). It now only works after following the steps from the first link (using Jl Cmder).

I used the link on that page (What to do next if Jl_Cmder will not connect and wipe
) to re-install the OS. I had used this link earlier, but it wouldn't work until I used this program to ensure it was wiped. Best of luck

Default Error 561 and 507 - POSSIBLE SOLUTION without wiping devide

I also received a fatal error while updating the O/S for my BB Curve 8310, after which my laptop/app loader software could not connect to the device. It told me I needed to enter the password into the device, but I could not do that because the error 561 and/or error 507 screens were showing and the keys did not work.

I searched these forums for ideas...and did not have to go as far as wiping the device. One of the pages said to remove the device battery and then connect the [battery-less] device to the laptop, so I tried that....and the app loader magically began proceeding....until it got to the task "reconnecting to JVM", and it started to hang again....so I then re-inserted the battery into the device and Voila! Upgrade completed finally!
